Microsoft has signed up Emitac as an authorised in-county distributor in Qatar. The latest agreement means that Emitac now holds distribution rights for the full range of Microsoft products in Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. Samer Abu-Ltaif, general manager at Microsoft North Gulf, said: “At Microsoft, we place great value on our partnership, and our focus is providing the best products and services available to our partners.” “With Emitac as our first distributor in Qatar, we aim to provide faster and more cost-effective services and, therefore, deliver more value to our channel partners and resellers in the region. Emitac’s comprehensive operations and experience with companies like HP goes a long way in realizing this goal,” he added. Suhail Issa, CEO at Emitac, said: “We are proud to be appointed Microsoft distributors in Qatar and the North Gulf region. Microsoft is a valuable addition to our vast portfolio of international vendors to offer to our clients. The Qatari market shows promise with one of the fastest growing IT industries in the region, and we are confident that our partnership with Microsoft is wise investment in the growth of this market and the region.” Prior to this appointment, Microsoft resellers in Qatar ordered product from distributors outside Qatar, resulting in longer lead times and higher freight charges. Microsoft claims that the appointment of an in-country distributor will allow partners and resellers to focus more on customer service and support as opposed to logistics and operational issues. “The growth of the Qatar IT industry has been phenomenal and Microsoft is proud to be an important part of this progressing infrastructure,” added Abu-Ltaif. “We are confident about our investments into the region and with our distribution focused in Qatar, our actions reaffirm our commitment to the State of Qatar and the local IT industry.”
