HP teamed up with publishing software specialist Quark to host a summit for 35 resellers from across the Middle East. The event, held recently in Fujeirah, celebrated the collaboration between the two vendors and also introduced the regional Quark channel to the HP Mac-Connect programme. The HP Mac-Connect programme offers a range of focused HP solutions compatible with Apple systems. Ernest Azzam, business development manager for large format printing at HP Middle East, claimed that the HP-Quark summit was a torchbearer for the development of the HP Mac-Connect programme across the region. “Our association with Quark foretells immense possibilities for resellers in the region, who in turn can address customers, and thereby ensure the speedy success of the programme,” said Azzam. “Quark, with its huge user base, dominates the publishing industry in the Middle East and HP has an unbeatable reputation for the quality, variety and pricing of our products.” “By joining forces, HP and Quark now offer the concept of total publishing solutions from design to proofing and production of printed documents. It covers the entire gamut, from design software to printing hardware and colour management solutions,” he added. Layout Middle East (ME), Quark’s full service distributor in the Middle East and North Africa, was also on hand to explain the potential of joint HP-Quark solutions. Joe Karkour, general manager at Layout ME, commented: “The daylong event represented the theme of ‘not just box-moving’ to symbolise the potential of this important partnership, and to underline the array of creative solutions made available through it.” “Apart from an introduction to the HP Mac-Connect programme, [resellers] were presented with several new incentive schemes to enable and motivate them to implement it across the region,” he added. As well as showcasing specialist printers, monitors and software, the event also included seminars designed to educate partners on the main selling points of products such as QuarkXPress and ArabicXT 6.5.
