Sun Microsystems is ready to roll with a regional road show that will demonstrate its portfolio of products, available through distributors, to second-tier resellers around the region. Focused on a range of products including storage, software and thin client solutions, Sun will stage one-day events in Riyadh, Cairo and Casablanca, building on the success of its initial event held recently in Dubai. The events consist of pre-sales workshops and technical training for second-tier resellers. “Each and every one of our solution providers throughout this region is important to us; they are the reason why we have enjoyed double-digit growth over the last year. We want to thank them by providing partners with value-add skills, to strengthen their knowledge of our expanding portfolio and show them how much more they can achieve,” said Bruno Haubertin, channel sales manager at Sun Microsystems Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Sun’s regional channel development provider, Tech Access, will also be on hand at the events to provide additional sales advice and brief resellers on its strategy for additional on-the-ground investment planned for the year ahead. “The Partner Sales Corner earlier this year proved to be a great success, and the Volume Products road show is the ideal follow-up. We will be meeting our partner community and listening to their feedback on market opportunities and challenges, and showing them that we are committed to their success,” said Kamran Hussain, general manager channel sales at Tech Access. Vendor alliances will also feature prominently with AMD and Citrix joining Sun to showcase the depth of their global partnerships and demonstrate the cross sales opportunities that exist in the corporate and small-to-medium business sector. On show will be Sun’s range of mid-series 6000 storage solutions, Sun’s family of AMD-based Opteron servers, identity management software and business-to-business and business-to-consumer portal applications. The one-day events will take place in Riyadh on April 17th, Casablanca on April 27th and Cairo on May 3rd.
