Le Meridien Dubai’s Japanese restaurant, Kiku reopened last month after undergoing a full renovation. The restaurant now sports a brand new look and a new menu offering over 240 dishes and 15 varieties of traditional Japanese rice beverages, making it the only restaurant in Dubai to serve the largest variety of Japanese cuisine. New features at the restaurant include Dubai’s biggest Tatami room with a seating arrangement for 22 people, an extended Sushi bar, a teppanyaki room and an open- kitchen concept. “The refurbishment of Kiku is in line with our plans of constantly evolving to satisfy customer tastes. Japanese cuisine has been rapidly growing in popularity given the mix of nationalities that live in Dubai and tourists that frequent it,” says Shujaat Yar, director, business development, Le Meridien Dubai. Kiku houses a wide variety of beverages from across Japan, which includes a premium collection that is normally available to the royal family. Additionally, the restaurant offers guests ‘Ikizukuri’, prepared by a special technique called ‘saishimi’ on live fish. This dish is a specialty of Kiku, which is the only restaurant in Dubai to serve this Japanese delicacy. “Japanese cooking is an art form where each preparation requires time and care in order to maintain authenticity of taste and presentation. To ensure that patrons are served the finest food, we hand-pick the fish for the day and serve a different specialty everyday, making each dining experience unique while creating an element of surprise for every visit,” explains restaurant chef, Teruyoshi Itoh.
