The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has been rated as the strongest luxury hotel brand, according to the 2005 Luxury Brands Status Index survey in the US. Conducted by New York-based Luxury Institute, the survey targeted wealthy consumers with household incomes above $200K and average net worth of at least $2 million. Those surveyed were asked to rate fifteen luxury hotel and resorts brands, including Fairmont, Four Seasons, InterContinental, Le Meridien, Mandarin Oriental and Ritz-Carlton. “Prestige ratings are based on the tangible and intangible experiences that luxury brands deliver to their customers and prospects,” says Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute. “Ritz-Carlton consistently outperformed the competition in all four critical attributes of a luxury brand, scoring an overall rating of 81 versus 77 for Four Seasons and 66 for St. Regis.” Ritz-Carlton came first in terms of delivering consistently superior quality, with Four Seasons rated as a close second.
