Interior design consultancy WA International has teamed with hospitality company Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) in a design contract for their up-coming 450-room property in the Jumeriah Beach Residence (JBR) project. The hotel will be branded a Sofitel luxury hotel and managed by the Accor Hotels Group. “ADNH are one of our oldest and most valued clients,” says Mark Young, general manager of WA International. “We know what they are looking for and understanding the clients’ expectations is the key to successful hospitality design. Tastes are changing in the region and we’ll be reflecting that in what we will do in the Sofitel,” he adds. The JBR project is set to cost over US $1.6 billion and cover 1.7 km of beachfront property. Developed by Dubai Properties, a member of Dubai Holdings, the project will comprise four top-end hotels together with 6,000 residential units. This is not the first time WA International and ADNH have partnered on a project. They are currently working on the refurbishment of the Hilton Hotel in Abu Dhabi, a venture that has cost the hospitality company in excess of US $8 million. “WA International has previously done some fantastic work for us, like the Hilton Jazz Bar and the Hiltonia Health Club and Spa. ADNH strives to maintain a high level of elegance in our hotels and we are pleased to be working with them [WA International] again,” says Peter Cardnell, director general, ADNH.
