Airbus is re-evaluating its PR strategy in the Middle East and may drop its agency, Bain Euro RSCG. Asda’a and Total Communications are both known to have been invited to pitch for the account by the European aerospace giant, and Action PR and Promoseven are also thought to be in the running. The aircraft-maker’s regional communications re-think has coincided with the departure of its account manager, Marwan Abu-Ghanem, from Bain Euro. Abu-Ghanem has moved to Hill & Knowlton, but H&K will not be bidding for the Airbus account, as the company already handles Boeing. According to an internal memo seen by itp.net, Total Communications believes it has an inside track on the deal: “We’ve been invited to pitch for the Airbus Industrie account and have an ‘insider’ on our side assisting,” the document said.
