Imation rejigs MEA operation

Removable storage solutions vendor Imation has rejigged its Middle East operation to deliver a stronger business focus and increased support for regional channel partners.

Removable storage solutions vendor Imation has rejigged its Middle East operation to deliver a stronger business focus and increased support for regional channel partners. “We have seen a strong growth in our market share in Middle East and East Africa (MEA),” said Brian Plummer, executive director at Imation EMEA. “We have seen a trend throughout the [IT] industry of a clear focus within distribution of two separate market segments — business-to-business and business-to-consumer — and we have reorganised ourselves to ensure that as a vendor with a strong commitment to our partners, we have dedicated teams to help these partners focus and grow their business.” As part of its MEA transformation, Imation has promoted Riyaz Abdulla to the position of sales and marketing manager for the Middle East and English-speaking East Africa. Abdulla has been at Imation for over six years and played a pivotal role in streamlining and strengthening the vendor’s regional distribution network to deliver sustained profitable growth. “Our emphasis will be on enabling our partners to continually achieve increased value through focused support programmes, which will help them, in turn, to assist their customers obtain better value and return on investment (ROI) from their storage infrastructure using technology that is right for them,” said Riyaz. Hatem Moqbel will take responsibility for Imation’s business-to-business operation in the region including the distribution and channel strategy. Yaser Shan will look after the business-to-consumer segment as well as sales and marketing activities. Globally, Imation now employs approximately 2,800 staff and makes more than 60% of its sales outside the US.
