IT and electronics retailer Jacky’s Electronics plans to open its sixth and largest UAE mall-based retail outlet at the Ibn Battuta mall in Dubai. The new store will cover 5,000 square feet and is expected to open this month. “The opening of our new store is a major step for us, in terms of our plans for strategic growth in the Emirates,” said Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer at Jacky’s Electronics. “The UAE is currently experiencing a retail boom and, as we continue to establish our presence in some of Dubai’s landmark retail venues, Jacky’s is set to be a part of it.” To coincide with the store launch, Jacky’s will offer exclusive promotional offers on selected products including IT kit, mobile phones, consumer electronics and even home appliances to shoppers at its new outlet. Jacky’s latest outlet will offer a spacious layout and a number of demonstration areas. The new layout concept, pioneered at Jacky’s Deira City Centre, was based on the results of a shopper survey conducted in 2004. Jacky’s Deira City Centre outlet — the first of the company’s stores to adopt the new look — received a facelift prior to the 2005 Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). According to Jacky’s, sales at the outlet during DSF 2005 were almost triple the average month’s takings during 2004. With multiple power retailers operating in Dubai, and an increasingly long list of destinations for shoppers to choose from, the importance of both store design and the overall retail experience provided cannot be underestimated.
