Samacom has unveiled a range of products and services at Cabsat. The company, which has been operating for three years now, is geared to meet the demand for broadcasting services across the region. “With Samacom’s debut at Cabsat 2005, the primary provider of satellite services for the Middle East is effectively saying, ‘we’re open for business!’ to the rest of the world,” says Najla Al Shihhe, marketing manager of Samacom. “It’s important to realise the necessity of broadcast services and solutions today. At the moment, we are seeing the numbers of homes across the Middle East and Africa increasing by 8%, year on year. We are also catering to the increased compound annual growth rate of the satellite and broadcast industry in Eastern Europe of 13.5% and the subcontinent of 13.9%.” According to Pricewaterhouse Coopers, there will be 6,155,000 homes in the Middle East by 2005 using satellite services. Samacom currently broadcasts over 130 television channels from its two teleports in Dubai. Its customer base includes over 25 broadcasters and it provides uplinks to over 20 satellites.
