Storage giant EMC has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to both partners and customers in Saudi Arabia with the opening of a dedicated office in Riyadh. EMC veteran Habib Mahakian will manage the new facility. “EMC’s investment of resources in Saudi Arabia will enable us to better understand the business needs of our existing customers, which include a number of Saudi’s most prominent organizations, while targeting new industry sectors and forging alliances with resellers throughout the country,” explained Mohammed Amin, regional manager at EMC Middle East. “The drive for Saudi organizations to become more competitive, and the role that information plays in customer and market share retention, are key factors driving the Saudi Arabia demand for information storage and management solutions,” he added. Osama Alhaj-Issa will serve as channel manager and will assume responsibility for the management and development of EMC’s partners in Saudi Arabia. Existing Saudi partners include MATCO, ITS, Ebttikar and NTC as well as regional partner STME. EMC reckons that demand for information lifecycle management solutions is increasing in Saudi Arabia as customers aim to manage data storage requirements in a more cost-effective fashion at every point of the lifecycle. During the next twelve months, EMC hopes to widen its geographic and vertical reach in the Kingdom and ensure that all product lines, including those obtained through recent acquisitions including Legato, Documentum, Dantz and SMARTS, are made available to customers through a highly skilled channel community.
