Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has signed up Mideast Data Systems (MDS) Dubai as its latest channel recruit in the region. HDS already works with storage integrators such as STME as well as through its global OEM partners such as HP and Sun. Ali Awada, managing partner at MDS Dubai, said: “HDS is a major player in the storage market and now is the time to really focus on the storage business. Companies are becoming increasingly aware of the need for business continuity and disaster recovery solutions in particular.” MDS will expand HDS’ reach within both Dubai and Yemen and drive sales of the storage vendor’s mid-to-low end offering aimed at small and medium businesses (SMBs) including the recently launched Hitachi Thunder 9520V. John Bentley, sales director at HDS Middle East, added: “We’re proud to be extending our portfolio of partnerships in the region to MDS. We plan to look at entering new vertical market segments with MDS, and as a starting point we are looking at broadcasting.” MDS is firmly established as a heavyweight player in the UAE IT services landscape and believes that new sales opportunities are emerging as storage becomes a critical element of companies’ overall IT infrastructure. “We now believe that the potential also exists to sell software on top of the boxes to provide the very best in terms of business continuity and uptime,” continued Awada. “MDS has a policy of partnering with leaders because customers want the very best.”
