Satyam Computer Services is aiming to help local IT development with the signing of a strategic partnership with Emirates Consulting Group (ECG) last week. The deal will see the IT services firm provide project support to ECG as well as training local IT staff. “We strongly believe that we need to have the local flavour in every country that we operate in, to have local people getting into the operations,” Rama Raju, CEO and managing director of Satyam told IT Weekly in an exclusive interview. “Apart from recruiting local talent, we also believe in having some strategic relationships with some local companies. That’s part of the strategy that we are doing with ECG. This is the first step in that direction,” he added. Satyam has already invested in building up a presence across the Middle East and Africa and has over 100 staff in the region already. Satyam has also brought on board Arab nationals from various countries for existing projects. The knowledge transfer programme will involve classroom and on-the-job training in the processes and methodologies followed by Satyam, Raju said. “We bring the best practices, especially because we have a very strong presence in the offshore development market,” he said. “We can deliver on offshore methodologies and how things can be virtually delivered without compromising on the quality and delivery.” Besides taking responsibility for cost and delivery, Satyam will also manage the 360-degree implementation of the projects. Satyam offers an array of solutions customised for different industry sectors and a wide range of services from consulting on strategies through to implementation.
