Rezidor SAS Hospitality is set to further expand its Middle East presence with the introduction of the mid-tier Park Inn brand. Saudi Arabia will be the launch destination for the no-fuss chain, with hotels scheduled to open in Riyadh and Al Khobar by 2007. The hotel company currently manages four properties in Saudi Arabia, including the recently announced Radisson SAS Al Madinah Paradise Resort, and is hoping its market presence and experience will help establish its mid-tier brand. Park Inn will share the market with other mid-section brands including Novotel, Holiday Inn and local, non-branded hotels. The first regional Park Inn property, the Park Inn Olaya Riyadh will have 212 rooms and one restaurant. “Riyadh is an excellent choice for the Park Inn brand; it is the capital city and an influential business hub that attracts corporate travellers,” says Jean Marc Busato, vice president, Rezidor Middle East. Rezidor’s second Park Inn property will open in Al Khobar. The hotel, which is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2007, will be close to the main highway between Al Khobar and Dammam. The 148-room hotel will overlook the Arabian Gulf and the town’s harbour. “Park Inn, Al Khobar will be ideally positioned to cater for the expanding MICE industry in the region,” explains Busato. This new venture from Rezidor mirrors plans from Marriott and InterContinental to bring their own mid-tier brands to the region. “There is growing demand for efficient, value-for-money accommodation for the frequent traveller. By introducing Park Inn to the Middle East, we aim to be at the forefront of the trend.”
