As part of its efforts to refurbish its Manama-based news facility and streamline its existing workflow, Bahrain Radio and TV Corporation (BRTC) will soon take delivery of Pinnacle’s news production, server, editing and character generator technology from Pinnacle. Specific solutions from Pinnacle will include a Vortex PS100 system and a PDS 9000i live production suite, the Thunder LT server, FXDeko ll and PostDeko character generators and Pinnacle’s Liquid Edition non-linear editing equipment. The installation is part of a major project managed by Dubai-based systems integrator, Middle East News (MEN). Central to the Pinnacle suite is the Vortex PS100. This delivers integrated functionality from ingest to playout, including 130 hours of DV25 and 160 hours of MPEG-1 storage, four inputs, three outputs, three high-res NLE seats of Vortex Edit and Pinnacle Liquid Edition and 20 low-res journalist browsing/editing seats. Further, in Bahrain TV’s studio control room, the PDS 9000i M/E production switcher includes nine internal DVE’s, RGB colour correction, while the Thunder LT combines clip and still stores with a mixer and DVE. In addition, the FX Deko ll creates characters and logos with live 3D effects for realtime, live broadcasts. In BRTC’s graphics room, Pinnacle Liquid blue offers end-to-end native digital production in all formats and PostDeko delivers tools for design and production.
