TV production company, Dawn Production, has deployed Pinnacle solutions at its Cairo and Mecca and Medina facilities. The production firm has installed MediaStream 8000 servers and DekoCast at its Cairo headquarters, and two Deko 2200s and two Deko 1000s at its Mecca and Medina facilities to facilitate the broadcast of two of its new channels - Dawn TV and Osool TV. The MediaStream 8000 broadcast servers at the Nilesat facility in Cairo offer two input and six output channels each in a mirrored configuration, with RAID storage of 500 hours at 8Mb/s. It also features Pinnacle’s MPEG-2 decoders with SD, HD, MXF and ASI functionality as standard. The installation adds to Dawn Production’s fully featured Pinnacle Liquid chrome broadcast editor. In addition, the DekoCast graphics generator at the Cairo facility produces graphics, logos and animations for channel branding. In Mecca and Medina, Dawn TV uses the Deko solutions for live subtitling of prayers in English and French. With most of the world’s 1.2 billion Muslims unable to understand Arabic, rapid translation is essential to reach more audiences. “As a 24x7 broadcast service provider, efficient and reliable technology is vital for us,” says founder of Dawn Production, Wajdi Ghazzawi. “Pinnacle’s solutions have made it easy for us to create a strong visual presence for our programmes,” he adds.
