The United Arab Emirates sees yet another victory in the global arena with the election of Humaid Rashid Sahoo, chief executive officer of Emirates Cable TV and Multimedia (E-Vision) to the board of directors of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Academy hands out the International Emmy Awards, the top awards in television at an annual ceremony in New York. Bruce L. Paisner, the Academy’s president, welcomed Sahoo’s election to the board, saying the latter would find the membership a ‘highly worthwhile’ experience. Sahoo’s appointment reflects E-Vision’s successful strides in the region since its launch five years ago. “It is a great honour to join the board of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences,” says Sahoo. “This membership is recognition of the progress made by the UAE and its entertainment providers. It is also a sign that E-vision is rapidly becoming a leading international player in the field of entertainment and confirms its reputation as an emerging focal point for excellence in broadcasting.”
