Optiron, optical media disks manufacturers in the Middle East, has teamed up with Techno Park (Government of Dubai) to build a multi-million dollar manufacturing plant. Based in Phase II of Techno Park, the state-of-the-art optical media disk manufacturing plant is part of Optiron’s plan to expand in the region. Optiron has already invested significantly in Phase I of Techno Park and produced 100 million all-format optical media disks. This additional investment will enable the company to produce 500 million optical disks per year when the plant becomes operational later this year. “It is clear that Techno Park will become a centre for industry and high-tech manufacturing for local and GCC companies. The economic zone has already afforded us in Phase I exciting incentives, super infrastructure and a one window service, proving that it is the right location for us to build our state of the art manufacturing facility,” says Hamid Kargar, CEO of Optiron. “The UAE is currently developing as a centre of excellence in the manufacture of high-tech consumables. Optiron will help greatly in positioning Dubai as the location of choice to set up first class manufacturing facilities for optical media disks,” says Abdulla Al Qurashi, CEO of Techno Park. “The level of sophistication required to build an optical media disk manufacturing plant is demanding, and we believe that Techno Park can support Optiron’s needs so that they can become a world-class player,” he adds.
