Etisalat’s business unit, eCompany, that provides internet services and e-solutions, announced recently that customers would now be able to subscribe to the high-speed broadband internet access service Al Shamil online by accessing the company’s website at www.etisalat4me.ae. This will allow customers to apply for the service online without having to go in person to an Etisalat office or business centre. In order to use this facility, customers must be existing Etisalat customers and have an E4ME user ID linked to a post-paid account for GSM, landline telephone or internet use, but people who do not have a user ID are able to register to the site by visiting the Etisalat online. Once registration is complete and a user ID has been issued, customers are able to follow the step-by-step application procedure. The process is designed for ease of use, and customers will be able to check the status of their application via the E4ME site, by using a reference number issued on completion of the application process. Etislat has also provided a 24-hour help desk is to assist with customer queries and resolve any problems customers may encounter. Announcing the new service, Abdulla Hashim, senior manager of eCompany, said: “It has always been our endeavour to look for new and innovative ways to increase customer convenience. The provisioning of this online system to get a new Al Shamil connection is indicative of that objective.” Customers will be able to choose from the four Al Shamil packages available, which cater for light, moderate, active and heavy usage, and so will be able to select to offering most suited to their needs. In addition, all eCompany internet account holders, including dial-up, Al Shamil, and business customers, will be able to reset their lost or forgotten internet passwords for free, using the same site. eCompany has now waived the small fee that was previously charged for resetting the internet passwords of customers requesting the service through Etislat offices.
