German biometrics security vendor SimonsVoss is forging ahead with expansion plans and looking to recruit partners across the Middle East and Africa, supported by the opening of a regional base in Dubai. “We have partnerships in place with systems integrators in a number of countries, mainly in the GCC, and are looking to add more to the list from across the Middle East and North Africa region,” says Rainer Erdmann, managing director at SimonsVoss. “We offer a unique product, and through our office in Dubai we will also provide an outstanding service to both local customers and partners. We have four people working for SimonsVoss in the region and our distributors are dedicating sales people to our products,” he adds. SimonsVoss designs and manufactures a range of digital locking and security solutions, some with biometrics built-in, which can be pre-programmed according to the needs of the user. Erdmann claims that the wireless technology is simple to use, can be installed effortlessly onto existing infrastructures, and provides a much higher level of security than currently offered by other security vendors. “The response to us opening our office has been overwhelming. We are finding that we are receiving interest even from markets such as Pakistan, where technology such as ours hasn’t been seen before. We have an impressive list of clients across the GCC area, and expect to add names at a rapid rate in a diverse variety of sectors, most notably the hospitality and the construction industries,” adds Erdmann. The vendor used January’s Intersec exhibition in Dubai to woo further dealers in the region but has made significant wins to date, including banks in Dubai, a shopping mall in Abu Dhabi as well as a ministry in Saudi Arabia. Despite only establishing a Middle East office this month, SimonsVoss is already looking long-term and may make even more local investment in the future. “We are in an excellent position here in Dubai, and the head office in Germany is supporting us to the hilt with finances, human resources and manufacturing. We may even take advantage of the talent and education found here to manufacture in the GCC one day,” concludes Erdmann.
