KSA commits SR 5.6 billion for schools

Saudi Arabia is on a school building spree. The next one and a half years will see the building of 1140 new school projects for both boys and girls. The new schools are divided into three groups. Group 1 includes 600 projects costing SR 1.2 billion; Group 2 includes 400 projects worth SR 2.5 billion and Group 3 has 140 projects worth SR 1.9 billion, said the director of administration and financial affairs at in the KSA Ministry of Education, Saleh Abdul Aziz Al Hameedi. He said that existing projects, which include renovation of schools, would be completed at a cost of SR 500 million in the near future. Some school contracts will be awarded in the coming weeks. Erzam Trading & Contracting Company has been awarded an SR 34 million contract for the construction of seven schools for boys in Sabia Town in Jizan region.
