EMC consolidates programmes

Having strengthened its software portfolio through the purchases of Documentum and Legato, storage giant EMC has revealed plans to fuse together its software channel programmes into a single, global and comprehensive EMC Velocity Channel Partner scheme.

Having strengthened its software portfolio through the purchases of Documentum and Legato, storage giant EMC has revealed plans to fuse together its software channel programmes into a single, global and comprehensive EMC Velocity Channel Partner scheme. The move, announced at EMC’s first ever software channel conference attended by 500 partners, is aimed at partners who previously only offered technology from EMC, Legato or Documentum. The single, global and comprehensive EMC Velocity Channel Partner programme will aim to provide all partners, regardless of size, with comprehensive, training, incentives and rewards. “We want to make it easy for partners to do business with EMC,” said John Koury, EMC VP of channel marketing. “The consistent feedback from our reseller community was the need for a single, consistent programme that allowed them to offer all of EMC’s storage, information and content software together with our tiered storage platforms. We have the leading technology and we are building a leading channel partner programme that will benefit our partners, EMC and most importantly, our customers.” David DeWalt, executive VP at EMC Software, added: “When the expertise of our diverse group of partners is combined under a single Velocity programme, customers of all sizes, in all industries around the world, will be able to more effectively reduce the cost and complexity of managing, sharing, and protecting information across the entire lifecycle.” The enhanced EMC Velocity Partner Programme aims to enable and reward solution selling. The partner programme for VMWare – also owned by EMC – remains unchanged and separate.
