Dubai-based distributor and retailer Eros has expanded its store portfolio with the opening of an outlet in Sharjah City Centre. Eros anticipates its retail operations will contribute 25% of sales in 2005, up from just 10% in 2004. “Through our stores we aim to showcase and deliver the best of the digital technology products of the leading brands across the globe. Eros' ability to continuously adapt to changes in the business environment through deep understanding of the market and their brands ensures that the Group delivers added value to its customers at all times,” said Deepak Babani, CEO at Eros Group. The new store aims to provide shoppers with a fresh vibrant ambience, claims Eros — an environment it hopes to replicate in all its outlets. With a background in consumer electronics, Eros is also starting to stock IT products and digital devices as convergence between the sectors gathers pace. The company recently signed an agreement to retail and distribute BenQ’s LCD TVs, Joybees and DVD recorder. Eros currently has 11 stores ranging across the UAE with plans in place to add even more. The company’s main focus remains retail distribution with an established network of 450 dealers already in place. “Focus on retail will allow us to interact directly with consumers. We can offer them superior quality of customer service and forge long-term relationships with end-users. Our overall business will also grow as a result of our retail branding. Today retail contributes about 10% of our business. In the coming year we expect this contribution to grow as high as 25%,” added Babani.
