Epicor Scala Software, the mid-tier ERP vendor has launched iScala Mobile Service Management tool, a new supply chain management (SCM) package for the Middle East & Africa markets. The tool based on Microsoft’s .Net technology is aimed at taking SCM in the region to the next stage of evolution by helping companies better integrate their ground staff with central systems. It also promises to dramatically reduce cumbersome paperwork and improving their bottomlines. “In the last decade, SCM technologies have evolved dramatically. However, there was always a need to take these technologies to the next level of creating a SCM tool that was real-time, online and integrated. With the advent of .Net and the advancement in mobile technologies making this dream a reality has become a relatively easier task,” says Ziad Aqrabawi, regional director, Epicor Scala, Middle East and Africa. iScala 2.2 Mobile Service Management allows a company to equip its service engineers with the critical information they need to be more productive and deliver the best customer service possible while on the road. Using the vendor’s solution, service engineers can receive service requests and report back status information running any version of Windows (XP, 2000, NT, CE and Pocket PC) through an internet browser. Other features of the tool include, fast notification of new service requests, reduced administrative overheads, reduced invoice cycle and improved cash flow. Thus, the tool enables a company to increase accuracy, improve customer service and lower field service costs. This saving is both in the form of reduction in fixed expenses such as cost of paperwork as well as time costs, which helps sales and maintenance staff to book additional customer calls claims the ERP vendor. A set of migration tools are available for existing Epicor Scala customers who wish to migrate or upgrade to the latest release.
