Oman Air is to overhaul its IT systems with a suite of applications from Sabre Airline Solutions. The makeover will see the carrier launch online booking services, as well as deploying e-ticketing. The carrier has opted to implement a number of Sabre applications, comprised of: the AirFlite Planning and Scheduling Suite, the Planet profitability forecasting system, the Traverse loyalty management system, the SabreSonic Web internet booking engine, the AirMax Revenue Manager, and SabreSonic Ticket, which is an e-ticketing solution. Sabre Airline Solutions’ consulting arm will support the Revenue Manager and SabreSonic Ticket implementations, which will enable Oman Air to quickly and effectively deploy the systems. Overall, the solutions will allow the carrier to maximise revenues, improve customer service levels and cut operational costs. “The support of the Sabre Airline Solutions consulting team with the implementation of Revenue Manager and SabreSonic Ticket will provide Oman Air with a significant strategic advantage throughout the Middle East region,” said Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, CEO of Oman Air. As part of the project, Oman Air will also move towards offering online self-service options for passengers. After the completion of the implementation, which will occur next year, passengers will be able to complete basic bookings and cancellations online. The carrier will also be able to offer hotel and car booking online, providing a single stop for travellers and an extra revenue stream for the airline. “Today’s announcement represents our continued commitment to the Middle East region,” said Murray Smyth, vice president, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Sabre Airline Solutions. “We have continued to extend our presence within the region throughout the past 18 months. Earlier this year, we launched the SabreSonic solutions, the industry’s first new-generation passenger management solution, which has given airlines around the world the flexibility to better adapt to the changing industry. We are delighted to be working with Oman Air.”
