NASDAQ-quoted network security solutions vendor WatchGuard has picked First Video Communications (FVC) as master distributor for all its products and services in the Middle East. WatchGuard’s product line-up, which includes the Firebox X line of integrated security appliances, will be made available through FVC’s network of distributors and value-added resellers across the region. “We are excited to add WatchGuard's products to our offerings,” said K.S. Parag, regional director at FVC. “With economies in the Middle East gaining traction, many of our customers are in need of security solutions that grow with their business. Because of our partnership with WatchGuard, we are now able to meet their demands and further enhance the value-added services we deliver to our resellers.” “The Firebox X line’s model upgrade capability, in particular, gives our resellers access to a source of sustainable revenue and allows them to meet the specific security needs of fast-growing small and medium-sized businesses,” he added. “As part of our continued expansion in the EMEA region, we were looking for a partner to both support and boost our Middle East network. FVC is the perfect partner for us because of its ability to provide full coverage in the region and its extensive network of VARs,” said Richard Reid, managing director at WatchGuard EMEA. “Moreover, FVC can provide our existing resellers in the Middle East excellent service, attention and resources. We are excited about the potential for a long and mutually beneficial partnership with FVC,” he added. WatchGuard posted global sales up 9% year-on-year at US$65.8m for the nine months ending September 2004. Net losses were trimmed 74% to US$3.1m as the vendor experienced increased demand for its Firebox X products and small office home office (SOHO) product portfolio coupled with improved sales in Asia.
