DHL have handled its most expensive freight to date —US$480,000 worth of Porsches. The logistics solutions provider, teamed up with Porsche Middle East to airlift two demonstration models from Dubai to Bahrain — a Carrera GT and a 911 Carrera S. The Bahrain demonstration was part of a Middle East road show by Porsche, for which DHL masterminded the intra Middle East logistics. “The Porsche road show demonstrated again why DHL is the clear leader in complete logistics solutions. The group's vast experience of such events and of the region, our team's knowledge and expertise, and our commitment to our customers' requirements guarantee that we are consistently able to deliver the premium service the company is renowned for and our clients expect,” said Shamil Habib, DHL’s industrial development manager for the UAE. “We offer tailor-made solutions, as we take full ownership of such projects. This partnership with Porsche was a case in point.” For Porsche, secure and safe delivery, were vital, as it rolled out its Porsche Middle East driving experience programme – a promotional tour to showcase some of its super cars. These qualities were all in evidence as DHL collected the cars before air freighting them to Bahrain on one of its own fleet of Boeing 727s. Once the cars arrived in Manama, DHL moved them to the Bahrain International Circuit where they were able to show their paces around the track. “We received an overwhelming response from the people who came to see the cars and of course we are grateful to DHL for its contribution in getting the vehicles here,” said Amaury La Fonta, marketing manager for Porsche Middle East.
