i-mate launches JAM

i-mate, the handheld vendor has launched JAM. The mid-tier music device operates on Microsoft Windows Mobile second edition for Pocket PC. With a built in antenna, it can be used for accessing online music and internet. The GSM/GPRS smart phone also supports Bluetooth and fax services.

i-mate, the handheld vendor has launched its new i-mate JAM. The small, mid-tier music device operates on Microsoft Windows Mobile second edition for Pocket PC. With a built in antenna, it can be used for accessing online music and internet. ‘‘The i-mate JAM caters to a specific market – the customer that wants all that goes with having a PDA, yet at the same time, has entertainment needs whether they be musical or visual,” says Jim Morrison, i-mate founder and CEO of the three-year old firm. “At i-mate, we listen to customer feedback and based upon this, aim to design devices that meet their needs.’’ The GSM/GPRS enabled smart phone, which had a soft launch in October during Gitex 2004, features a 2.8” 64k colour transflective sensitive touch screen and an LED backlight. It also sports interactive games including Backgammon, Checkers, Lines and Filler, available from club i-mate. JAM also boasts of 1.3 Mega Pixel camera with a full screen view-finder and a rotating screen. With Bluetooth capability, the vendor says JAM also supports fax services. The bundled Windows Media Player 10, allows playback of MP3s and video clips. In addition to this, all i-mate device users can register at clubimate.com the vendor’s online site for ring tones, games, device themes, music, software and accessories. Registration is free and membership includes i-mate e-mail, a hosted Microsoft Exchange 2003 e-mail account with 10MB storage. The i-mate JAM, along with the recently launched i-mate SP3, i-mate SP3i and i-mate PDA2k, is available at Plug-Ins, Carrefour, Radioshack, Virgin, Jacky’s Electronics, CompuME and Global Link Communications across the region.
