Regional distributor Empa has appointed Sinan Kender as sales manager for its Middle East operations. Kender will be responsible for leading Empa’s sales team of six people and also for adding vendors to Empa’s product portfolio. “This is a very strong company with visionary management,” surmised Kender. “We have a good product portfolio for the likes of assemblers, almost a one-stop shop for their needs. My remit covers the whole line of products here and I will be driving sales as well as helping to get new distribution deals to flesh out our offerings.” Kender has seven years experience in IT distribution at both vendor and distributor levels and has worked with well-known names including Network Associates. He brings a wealth of knowledge to Empa after working in markets as far afield as Eastern Europe and Central Asia and his knowledge of software products should stand Empa in good stead if the distributor does decide to branch out of components and add new revenue streams to its business. “The Middle East is over distributed at this moment in time. Everybody in the IT world wants to come here and report big numbers and even bigger targets. That behaviour creates over distribution in the market and it is a case of survival of the fittest. We have a good product line and will leverage off that. But I also see us enriching Empa’s product portfolio and turning this company into one of the big distribution players in the region,” added Kender. 2004 has been a busy year for Empa. The distributor recently appointed a country manager responsible for Iran, opened up operations in Egypt and has signed deals with Acer for the CIS markets. Expect more expansion and distribution agreements as Empa moves into 2005 with a bang.
