VGA manufacturer Sapphire has appointed two distributors in Saudi Arabia and Iran as it looks to boost its market share in the region’s largest markets. Bawader Technology is Sapphire’s new Saudi distributor while Tehran-based Albaloo Computer will distribute in Iran. Mohammed Ibrahim, Sapphire’s regional sales manager MEA, has high expectations for the new appointees: “Sapphire is looking to have the largest share of the graphics market in both countries by the end of 2005. Albaloo Computer has shown itself to be very aggressive in the market and are pushing mid to high range products. The same is true of Bawader and they form an integral part of our overall aim.” Ibrahim hinted that further changes were in the pipeline, but refused to disclose details, saying instead that future changes would shake up the channel. “Sapphire is going to create a real noise in the Middle East through additions to our distribution network, which will be announced soon.” Competitors watch out!
