The US$47.3 billion Dell has appointed Mindware to distribute its computing solutions to the small-to-medium business (SMB) market in Saudi Arabia. “SMB is a large and fast growing market segment, both in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East. We have a very strong offering of products and services for the SMB segment. Mindware, through its role as an Intel wholesaler and its strong presence across the Kingdom, has requisite skills and nationwide reach that allow us to relatively quickly address the SMB market,” says Michael Collins, general manager, Dell Middle East. “There is a very real need for quality computing solutions and services by the Saudi SMB sector. Together with Dell, we’re stepping in to meet this demand with a dedicated range of products and services available immediately across the Kingdom,” says Jacques Chammas, managing director, Mindware. Available immediately will be a comprehensive range of Dell products specifically geared toward SMBs, such as the recently introduced Optiplex SX280 and GX280 desktops, the entry-level Power Edge 1800 server, and the Dell EMC AX100 storage area network (SAN) designed for small organizations and workgroups. Also available are Dell’s printer line from the all-in-one 922 printer ideal for small and home offices, the 1700n for small workgroups, the 1600n multifunction laser printer for workgroups and finally, the brand new 3000cn/3100cn color laser printers ideal for small business environments. According to IDC’s new Gulf States Personal Computing Forecast 2004-2008, shipments are expected to jump by more than 32% this year with Saudi Arabia leading the way as the largest market for PCs last year and for 2004.
