Cisco has unveiled two new channel programmes to recognise and reward partners championing the networking giant’s thrust into the IT security arena. The new schemes are the Cisco IP Network Defender programme and the Cisco Security VPN/Firewall Express Specialisation. “When it comes to networking, our customers’ top concern is security. This represents a significant growth opportunity for our channel partners,” said Edison Peres, vice president of advanced and core technologies, worldwide channels at Cisco. “Secure networks serve as the catalyst for our customers to, expand their networks, deploy new applications and invest in new technologies. The IP Network Defender programme and the Cisco Security VPN/Firewall Express Specialisation reinforce our commitment to working with our channel partners to optimise this growing market,” he added. Focused on the small and medium business (SMB) segment, the VPN/Firewall Express Specialisation is targeted at channel partners with the knowledge, expertise and focus required to deliver network security solutions to this customer segment. Available globally, partners eligible for the specialisation will be provided with formal training, ten points towards their company’s Cisco certification badge and recognition of their status on the Cisco partner locator. The specific benefits package available to partners achieving the specialisation may vary by region according to Cisco. The Cisco IP Network Defender Programme is part of the broader Cisco Opportunity Incentive Programme (OIP) — a scheme designed to reward specialised partners developing new business opportunities. By extending its OIP scheme into the security arena, qualified partners will be eligible for savings on Cisco network security solutions as well as special pricing on security bundles. Other benefits include special leasing programmes and learning credits.
