Asus has launched a new game ready series of PCI Express graphics cards in the form of its feature-packed Extreme AX700 family. The cards have been designed to make the most of PCI Express’ native 16-lane Visual Processing Unit (VPU), ATi’s Radeon 700, and incorporate a plethora of Asus’ proprietary technologies. “We are pleased to be working with Asus to deliver the world’s best PCI Express graphics solutions,” said Rick Bergman, senior vice president of marketing and general manager, desktop, ATi Technologies Inc. “With the introduction of the EAX700 Series powered by ATi’s Radeon VPU, ATi and Asus are enabling customers to experience the full benefits of PCI Express.” Asus’ new AX700 cards include the firm’s GameFace Live technology, which Asus claims is the world’s first multi-player, video/audio communication solution for DirectX PC gaming. Put simply, this feature allows the simultaneous connection of up to eight players, meaning gamers can talk to and see their teammates or the enemy during PC gaming. The new cards also incorporate OnScreenDisplay, which allows users to adjust general settings such as brightness and contrast levels, VR settings and extra light settings while watching movies or playing 3D games. VideoSecurity Online meanwhile helps users set up a home security system by aiming a webcam at a specific area. It will then monitor that location, take snap shots of any unauthorised visitors, and send out warning messages to pre-programmed recipients via e-mail or phone.
