Swift Freight International has opened its fourth warehouse in Dubai, in the Rashidiya area. The facility, known as Swift 4, is a 50,000 square foot insulated warehouse with 1,800 pallet positions and eight container bays. The company says the warehouse will give it rapid access to Dubai’s ports and its airport, and will provide office space for at least 60 staff. “As customers’ requirements and needs have always been Swift’s focus, it has gone ahead with this brand new warehouse,” says managing director B. Rajagopalan. “The major focus and objective will be the quick turnaround of sea and air shipments and quicker connections and deliveries to our customers.” Swift has also installed the SSA Global’s EXceed WMS warehouse management system (WMS) at its Cairo distribution center. The implementation was carried out by Span Supply Network Solutions (Span SNS) and reportedly took only three weeks. The inventory data upload and system go-live were performed remotely from Dubai.
