Acer has beefed up it UAE ‘Collect and Drop’ check-up and repair service by extending the scheme to cover LCD monitors and projectors. The service has already been well received by Acer notebook owners who have access to the scheme.

Acer has beefed up it UAE ‘Collect and Drop’ check-up and repair service by extending the scheme to cover LCD monitors and projectors. The service has been well received by Acer notebook owners who already have access to the scheme. Customers needing to have their monitors or projectors checked or repaired can telephone a dedicated Acer call centre. The product is picked up from their home or place of work and returned once the ‘necessary improvements’ have been carried out. LCD monitors are covered by the service for three years and projectors for two. “People in the UAE lead busy lives and often don’t have the time to make trips to get their technology fixed,” said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer Middle East. “Ensuring the best customer service is a major priority for Acer, which extends to well after one of our products has been bought. The ‘Collect and Drop’ has shown to been immensely popular for mobile technology, and we wanted to extend this to other areas of our business.” Acer claims to have seen ‘strong’ sales for its projector range since launching the products in June while LCD monitors sales are ‘robust’. Express courier company TCS will provide the logistics behind Acer’s ‘Collect and Drop’ service. Acer claims that 90% of people using the service were ‘very satisfied’ with the value-added support. “The Acer brand is about more than just delivering the most advanced technology and innovative design, it is about offering the highest levels of service to customers across the region,” said Murthy. Post-sales service and support continues to be a major differentiator between IT vendors in the Middle East. This is especially true for individual end-users not necessarily served by a proximity reseller. Those able to develop a regional support infrastructure can offer a distinct value-add to potential customers.
