Emirates Computers' president Hani Harik is where he's always been at Gitex, in hall four, only this year he’s outlining his company's new four-area approach to systems integration. "We've been explaining our recent restructure without getting clients into the technicalities," he explains. "We wanted to talk about it in a customer driven way, rather than talking about business units, so we decided to drive the message across by talking about our new focus areas." These focus areas are 'secure enterprise', 'smart enterprise', 'interactive enterprise' and 'technical computing and media.' "There are not many systems integrators here at Gitex that can do the whole end-to-end offer," Harik claims. "It's quite boggling to people, even our clients, that every time we speak about something, we can also do it." Harik's 'secure enterprise' concept covers IT infrastructure, security, access and authori-sation solutions, or making a company "totally secure, from inside and out." Harik adds: "When we talk about smart enterprises, this is at the heart of what we do. The key to acquiring technology is that it should make you do things better, faster, more efficiently. Whichever way you look at these things, they affect your bottom line. Time is money, so is data." Harik's 'interactive enterprise' covers call centre, CRM and signage solutions, while ‘technical computing and media’ is largely audio and visual based. "Many clients come in and focus on one thing, maybe 80-90% focus on what we call 'smart enterprise' solutions.” After what was a slow first day at Gitex, on the second day Harik recorded 83 meetings and 107 leads. "People are used to coming here," he smiles. "They walk through the door and know where we are."
