Dubai Internet City is letting its partner companies take the floor in the DIC Community Pavilion. Located in the Exhibition Centre concourse outside halls eight and seven, the Pavilion occupies a hefty 1158 square feet of floor space and allows 29 companies to showcase their wares. The Dubai Internet City Community now includes around 650 business partners. Although the DIC Community Pavilion highlights a relatively small cross section, their activities are wide ranging, from storage and server solutions to consultancy and smart cards. "Over the last four years, the Dubai Internet City community has been spearheading ICT industry development in the region and the companies here represent the highest levels of quality and innovation in the region's industry," says Ahmad Bin Byat, director general of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, which comprises Dubai Internet City, Knowledge Village and Dubai Media City. “At this year's Gitex, we are showcasing a wide cross-section of the DIC community that embodies its spirit and diversity," he added. Developments yesterday included the launch of IT-People.com, a premier job portal aiming to fulfil the career aspirations of IT professionals, and the regional debut of Fumo Communications' new state of the art range of fibre optic networking products. Tranquil Solutions highlighted its specialised software solutions for automobile dealerships and car rental businesses. ATI, the graphics specialist working on the graphics processing chip for Microsoft's Xbox 2, blazed a trail with the regional introduction of the ALL-IN-WONDER X600 PRO and X800 XT cards. The cards give optimum performance with the latest blockbuster games, such as Doom III. Additionally, the X800 XT is the first video card to feature DVI-I and VGA monitor connectivity, plus a TV and FM Radio tuner in a single slot device. Special prominence has been given within the DIC Community Pavilion to the Dubai Outsource Zone (DOZ), DIC's new initiative targeted at the global outsourcing industry. DOZ bills itself as the world's first free zone specifically dedicated to the burgeoning outsourcing industry. It provides a comprehensive infrastructure and environment for offshore service providers to set up global or regional hubs servicing the worldwide market. According to DIC, a study conducted by a leading US consulting firm ranked DOZ as potentially one of the world's three top offshore locations. Monday also sees the launch of the 'Pan Arab Web Awards', which aim to honour creativity in the Arab World. Precise details will be unveiled at 14.30 by Jamal Abdulsalam, director of partner relations at Dubai Internet City; Wadi Ahmed, director of marketing at Dubai Internet City and Pierre Moukarzel, president of the Assembly of Professionals and Technicians in Lebanon.
