Al Tuwairqi Group awarded CARES certificate

Al Tuwairqi Group becomes first GCC steel manufacturer to be awarded prestigious industry certificate

The Al Ittefaq Steel Products Factory (ISPF) based in Dammam, KSA which is part of the Al Tuwairqi Group has been awarded the prestigious ‘UK Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels’ Certificate of Approval (CARES) certificate and is the first GCC manufacturer to be awarded the certificate. The award of the CARES certificate of approval is recognition of high managerial, quality and production controls used by ISPF in the manufacture of steel rebar for the construction industry. The Al Ittefaq Steel Products Factory produces 1 000 000 tons of rebar and wire every year. National Steel & Iron Factory based in Dammam it has an annual capacity of 60 000 tons of billet. The billet is raw material for ISPF and the award represents a major coup for the Al Tuwairqi Group. “We will have an identification mark on each bit of reinforced steel to show that we have won CARES certification,” said Albert Taylor, general mananger, Al Tuwairqu Group, UAE operation. “Hopefully this award will lead to more work for us and improve our bottom line,” he added. The Al Tuwairqi Group of steel manufacturing plants also consists of the Al Faisal Steel Products Factory in Dammam, which has a capacity to produce 250 000 tons of value added products such as cut to length bars, wire mesh, epoxy coated bars and rods. The company also has a plant in Sheerness, UK and it produces 750 000 tons of billets each year.
