In a last minute change of plan, Gitex organisers have announced that the exhibition will now open to trade visitors at 10am on Sunday October 3rd, the first day of the show. Instead of the usual official opening ceremony, a Royal Visit will now take place on the second day, Monday 4th October. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum will lead a large group of official dignitaries through the show giving them the opportunity to see Gitex in operation. In an e-mail sent to exhibitors by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), organisers of Gitex, the reasons behind the revised plan were explained: “This significant change is due to the extensive feedback received from many of our Exhibitors, who tell us that they need to have more time to meet with trade buyers and the current programme does not give sufficient opportunity. This new format will, inevitably, result in opportunities for increased business for you.” “His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum suggested this change and his flexibility and visionary approach to this change demonstrates his commitment to ensuring the show continues its success,” the e-mail continued.
