Logicom has reached an agreement with monitor giant Philips to distribute the vendor’s range of monitors in the UAE market. Philips decided to expand its distribution agreement with the Cypriot-based distributor after enjoying success in markets where the two are currently working together. “Logicom has been selected by Philips as an official distributor of the manufacturer's full range of computer monitors in the United Arab Emirates,” said Omiros Pissarides, general manager at Logicom Dubai. “This will be the fourth market in the Middle East region where the two companies have teamed up, after Cyprus, Jordan and Lebanon.” “With this agreement, Philips further strengthens its position in the UAE monitor market, where it has a long established presence. Consumers will be the ultimate winners from this combination of Logicom’s strength in efficient IT product distribution and Philips’ strength in multimedia display devices,” added Pissarides. Logicom has been working hard to increase it range of channel offerings and move towards retail channels. Logicom was recently appointed as an official distributor for security vendor McAfee, and earlier this year also picked up much coveted distribution rights for Cisco. This move will solidify its product lineup as it looks to increase sales into retail. “We want to work across both business areas — components and retail,” said George Georgiou, director at Logicom. “Components business with large assemblers gives the volume but also has its ups and downs. Retailers buy more often in smaller quantities. Logicom is always trying to expand its product line by adding top brands and offering full solutions to its customer base.” Other vendors already distributing through Logicom include Microsoft, IBM, Seagate and Cisco Systems. Logicom has offices and warehouse facilities in Cyprus, Lebanon, Greece, Jordan, Kuwait and the UAE.
