Almasa IT Distribution has signed up URUK IT as a channel partner for the sale of Galaxy VGA cards into Iraq. With branch offices already up and running in Baghdad and Basra, URUK IT also has plans to open a distribution outlet in Mosul to serve northern Iraq. Omar M.H. Baktash, channel sales manager at Almasa IT Distribution, said: “URUK is one of the leading IT distribution specialists in Iraq. It is well established with a good structure, high capital and a very good reseller network. We feel very confident to appoint URUK as our channel partner for Galaxy and I am sure together we can build a very impressive market share in Iraq. We are looking forward to developing this business together.” “With our local presence and logistics ex-Jebel Ali we believe we have a winning formula for both the Iraqi channel and consumers in-country. URUK are very much integral to that,” he added. Almasa has strong historical links to resellers in Iraq. The distributor believes that its ability to offer favourable credit terms to Iraqi resellers and efficient logistics enabling it to supply product quickly will help position the company as a market leader in the Iraqi IT market. Longer term, Almasa will also look to establish in-country logistics in Iraq and support its vendors’ warranty commitments by opening in-country service centres.
