Ali Mutada has been named as Gulf Air’s new head of cargo, a key position at the carrier. In this post, Mutada will report directly to James Hogan, Gulf Air’s president & chief executive and sit on the airline’s management committee. “This senior appointment reflects the continuing changing requirements of our business. It will drive and underpin the growth of our cargo operation to take advantage of the significant future growth opportunities in the region and our expanding network,” says Hogan. “Ali has a wealth of airline industry experience and this strategic promotion increases our focus and will assist in streamlining processes and providing the most efficient and effective service for our cargo customers.” Murtada has worked his way up through the ranks at Gulf Air over his 30 year long career at the airline. He started in the reservations department, and then entered the airline's original graduate trainee programme for Gulf nationals. After a number of managerial roles, he was appointed as area manager for Bahrain and, later, India. Subsequent roles included regional vice president Asia/Pacific, independent management of cargo, head of inflight services and regional manager, GCC & Middle East.
