At last year’s Gitex, Samsung Electronics demonstrated its digital prowess by successfully showcasing its cutting-edge convergence offerings, including the world’s biggest Plasma Display Panel at 63-inch, the X600 camera mobile phone, a family of TFT-LCD and its CRT monitors. This year, the electronics giant is attempting to take the theme of digital convergence one step further and come October 3 the vendor will once again have its full range of mainstream products and gadgets on show. Already slated to appear are Samsung’s feature-powered PDAs, mobile phones, sophisticated software-enabled monitors, flat-panel displays, plasma TVs, minimalist-design multifunction printers and sleek digital devices such as MP3 players and digital video cameras. While more than 20,000 visitors passed by Samsung’s stand last year, the electronics giant expects even more people to drop in this year as it reiterates its converged vision and emphasises its leadership in both the regional and global ICT industry. In fact, Samsung’s core objective for Gitex 2004 is to give its existing and potential customers a chance to experience the growing world of digital products that are finding their way into homes and office environments around the Middle East. As such, the vendor’s pavilion has been designed to mirror Samsung’s reputation as an industry innovator.
