ASBIS intends to take its huge portfolio of products to Gitex this year, including offerings from partners such as Seagate, Maxtor, Hitachi GST, Intel, LiteOn, Canyon, Prestigio and Adaptec. The distributor will also be showcasing a range of components and telling visitors about its ability to build reliable PCs, which it currently markets under the Prestigio brand. “Gitex is the only event in the Middle East that can claim to be an IT industry forum. It’s on a par here with Cebit or Computex and growing customer interest proves this. I expect this year’s Gitex to be a real technology showcase, and ASBIS will try to take an active role in this trend. Of course, our target for this exhibition is to establish more business contacts as well as open up new markets for our business,” says Alexandre Bourov, marketing coordinator for ASBIS Middle East. In particular, ASBIS will be focusing on its Hard Disk Drive and CPUs business at the show. It will also highlight its notebooks and plasma & LCD TVs. The distributor will also be talking about its R&D facilities and letting visitors to the show test its wide array of mobile technologies. “The quality of our components is second to none and that’s what attracts more customers. But that does not mean that we are fully content with our current position. We are always improving our ways of doing business,” says Bourov. “We cannot underestimate the importance of the show. It’s an indicator of regional IT industry health. We hope to gain a bigger market share at the show, not only in channel distribution, but also in the retail segment of the local GCC market. Overseas markets always were the main part of our development strategy, and will continue to play this role as they present good opportunities for our business and drive it to new heights,” he adds.
