Stonesoft focuses on IPS products

Security vendor promotes unified network security and demonstrates its wide range of solutions .

Stonesoft will use its largest Gitex presence yet to promote unified network security. In particular, the vendor will be focusing on its intrusion protection system (IPS), talking about the need for appropriate security polices within end user environments, and promoting its StoneGate solution. Also on show at Stonesoft’s stand in hall six will be the StoneGate Management Centre, a combined firewall, virtual private network (VPN) and IPS offering that provides a scalable, layered defence system for large enterprise companies and eliminates the need for separate multi-vendor management systems. In turn, the vendor argues that this frees up administrators’ time and allows them to react and respond to incidents more effectively. “Network security managers often have to deal with solutions from a variety of different vendors, adding to the complexity and cost of maintaining an adequate level of cover,” says Jari Valvisto, vice president for Stonesoft Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and emerging markets. “Visitors to Stonesoft’s Gitex stand will learn how our solution simplifies network protection, reduces the cost of ownership and provides robust protection against attack,” he adds. 2004 is the first year that Stonesoft has exhibited at Gitex in its own right, having previously appeared with regional partners. The Finnish-based vendor is keen to succeed at this year’s show and build on its fledgling regional presence, which received a boost when the company opened its regional headquarters at Dubai Internet City earlier this year. The firm is looking to meet senior decision makers at Gitex and make the contacts that will boost its client base throughout the region. Already, the firm has been in active discussions with companies from key vertical sectors such as oil and gas, banking and government since it introduced IPS to the Middle East in April this year. In an effort to persuade interested parties of the product’s pedigree, the Stonesoft sales team will be referencing some of the vendor’s international successes from its base in hall six. In particular, they will be talking about Stonesoft’s work with global giants such as Samsung, Shell Oil, Lufthansa, Allianz and Merrill Lynch, and they will also highlight the fact that two-thirds of top international banks and nine out of ten Fortune 500 companies use its kit to meet their security needs. “Security will be this year’s hot topic at Gitex after 12 months, which have seen a dramatic rise in internet attacks, worms and viruses,” says Valvisto. “Securing the network is a key priority for enterprise organisations across the Middle East. Gitex 2004 allows us to reach key IT decision-makers from across the region and demonstrate the importance of adequately protecting their systems from these malicious attacks,” he adds.
