US Robotics (USR) is relishing a move to a networking hall for this year’s Gitex. The company moves to hall seven as the DWTC consolidates networking vendors in halls five, six, and seven and concentrates software companies in the USR’s previous place of residence in the Rashid hall. “We are happy to be in hall seven with other networking vendors,” says Yusef Syed, regional manager, USR MENA. “We have a stand beside Etisalat and are happy with this prominent position. We have a very good relationship with the service provider and a lot of USR’s DSL products are Etisalat approved,” he adds. USR is promising a mixture of new product releases and product demonstrations at its stand. The vendor is keeping details of new products under its hat for the moment but will reveal all at the exhibition. “Most of the products will focus on the SMB but we will have products that are nudging towards the enterprise,” says Syed. The company will use its stand to demonstrate what it claims is industry leading throughput speeds over its wireless network devices. The company will showcase devices that boast throughput speeds up to 125Mbytes/s. “Gitex is key for us, it provides great exposure, especially as our [USR MENA] headquarters are in the GCC. You see people from all walks of life and we hope to use the exhibition to bring in new customers,” says Syed. “The Middle East is an important market for us and was awarded best region by USR in 2003. We saw 162% revenue growth in non-analogue products from Q104 to Q204. We want to show customers we are growing.” USR will also show off its recently launched wireless router, the 8200. This is aimed at small to medium sized businesses (10-20 staff) without a large dedicated IT department. The router offers a number of security features such as built-in firewall and support for VPN tunnelling.
