ASPGulf plans to focus on the twin themes of business continuity and wireless at this year’s Gitex. The provider, which offers hosting solutions to companies across the region via its data centres in Dubai, hopes to use the high volume of regional visitors at the show to raise its profile beyond the UAE’s borders. On show will be the wireless hotspot solutions offered by ASPGulf’s sister company, WiSPGulf, which are being targeted at organisations that rely on recurring footfall and see wireless internet access as a way to retain customers, such as coffee houses. The provider also plans to promote its recent tie-up with IBM Global Services, through which it is offering outsourced business continuity and recovery services to the region’s enterprises. “There has been an increase in awareness of business vulnerabilities and the severe impact on business following a major IT failure,” says Dean Polley, general manager of ASPGulf. “There are virtually no turnkey solutions being offered locally other than the ASPGulf/IBM joint offering.” The provider also plans to showcase its system for remote data replication over IP and Virtual Tape Libraries at the show, as well as using Gitex as a platform to widen its business reach. “Gitex is the premier IT show of the year for the region and it’s an opportunity to network with local and regional organisations,” says Polley. “The Middle East is a booming market. New opportunities are opening up everyday. Steady increases in property development plus the development of additional free zones [is attracting] an influx of international organisations. The service industry requires IT infrastructure and services to maintain their respective levels of service and ASPGulf sees a huge opportunity to service those organisations,” he adds.
