Dubai TV has revamped its look with Vizrt’s 3D graphics tools. Vizrt engineers devised a new integration between Vizrt’s Viz|Artist animation design, Viz|Content Pilot management and control software, and Avid’s iNews and Control Air newsroom system for the network. The new device manager within Viz|Content Pilot provides direct control of graphics playout from Control Air and bypasses the MOS interface within iNews. “We’re now able to get complex graphics on air very quickly and efficiently,” says Hassan Chahine, technical director, Dubai TV. “The new system has enabled us to do this without investing in a large graphics department.” Dubai TV, in an effort to minimise staff and optimise physical space, requested that no communication pass over MOS and that no Vizrt operator be required for the control room. Vizrt, therefore, created a direct device manager between its tools and Avid’s Control Air. Previously, all communication between Content Pilot and iNews was through a separate interface. “This is a much faster and more efficient way of working,” says Berend Van Santen, sales manager for Viz Centre in Norway. “Communication between the newsroom and automation products is now streamlined. The direct interface between our products and Avid’s makes it faster to load the playlist.” The Vizrt implementation was undertaken by Salam Technical Services. “This direct interface allows Dubai TV to generate quick and complicated graphics on-air and to manage the entire graphics content within the Pilot system,” adds Manoj Bhatia, director of sales & marketing, Salam Technical Services.
