Aptec has been confirmed as an authorised distributor for VERITAS in the Middle East. The move marks another step on storage software vendor VERITAS’ quest to broaden its regional channel, reach out to second tier resellers and open up new sales opportunities. “We are looking forward to working closely with VERITAS through our regional offices and comprehensive channel coverage across the Middle East,” said Ilyas Mohammed, business unit manager security, storage and networking at Aptec Gulf. “Within Aptec we are forming a team for VERITAS offering sales and pre-sales support to our channel, which will help them to give great solutions in terms of design, configuration, co-ordination and price.” “With companies in the Middle East increasingly looking for backup and storage solutions, VERITAS is fortunate to have the Aptec Group as a focused commercial distributor. Aptec — which is supported by offices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey — has contributed to VERITAS’ healthy presence in the region by providing our partners with world-class service and support,” said Katie Spurgeon, regional channel manager at VERITAS Middle East. Aptec lines up alongside Mindware and Tech Data as VERITAS’ distribution partners in the Middle East. Aptec has also unveiled a security and protection promotion that incentivises the channel to resell VERITAS storage software and McAfee security software. Running until September 30th 2004, resellers qualify for a variety of rewards including digital cameras, notebooks and even watches for passing pre-determined revenue targets.
