Network security provider Stonesoft has announced that its StoneGate Firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN) is now available for the IBM iSeries server in the Middle East. Stonesoft claims that its StoneGate solution is the only internal enterprise firewall and VPN available for the iSeries today. The StoneGate solution helps customers ensure continued network security while reducing IT complexity and cost. Consolidated iSeries servers allow organizations to run virtual networks and multiple servers located inside one physical machine. "Having a broad security solution offering for the eServer family is a major strength for Stonesoft, and it deepens our cooperation with IBM to bring the most secure environment for our customers, both here in the Middle East and around the world,” said Jari Valvisto, vice president, Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and emerging markets, Stonesoft. Stonesoft has worked closely with IBM in other projects, introducing its technology to the zSeries mainframes and xSeries Intel compatible servers. “StoneGate offers broad support for enterprise firewall and VPN on IBM eServers. IBM customers can now take advantage of this broad support through StoneGate’s product to address diverse firewall and VPN requirement needs,” said Valvisto. “Firewalls inside the virtual network environment is key to increasing the security for customers across the Middle East.” The Stonesoft offering, which is now available across the region, will help iSeries customers simplify the IT infrastructure in developing new e-business applications. “The firewall and Virtual Private Network offering from Stonesoft helps our customers in this region to simplify their IT infrastructure by supporting the roll out of their new e-business applications while benefiting from substantial cost savings,” said Wael Abdoush, systems group manager, IBM Middle East. “With the support of Stonesoft on IBM’s iSeries eServer systems, enterprises such as banking institutions can today enforce security policies through a simple centrally managed solution across their entire corporate landscape.”
